Calling all Alaska Veterans! Apply to join a LFHF Mission.
The Last Frontier Honor Flight proudly honors Alaska’s Veterans by providing an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built in recognition of their service and sacrifice.
If you are eligible and would like to join us on an upcoming mission, we invite you to apply.
Who is eligible?
LFHF is currently accepting applications from:
- World War II veterans
- Alaska Territorial Guard veterans
- Korean War-era veterans
- Vietnam War-era veterans, with an enlistment date prior to May 7, 1975
- Critically ill veterans from any service era, with physician documentation
While the Honor Flight Network has expanded eligibility to veterans who served through July 31, 1991, LFHF currently has a substantial waiting list of Alaska veterans. At this time, we are unable to accept applications from Veterans who began their service after May 7, 1975, except for critically ill Veterans, who receive our highest priority.
How LFHF veterans are selected
Mission availability is limited. Application date and age are considered when selecting veterans for each mission, with priority given to critically ill veterans.
Once a seat becomes available, a LFHF representative will contact you by phone or email. You will also receive an email confirmation after submitting your application.
What to expect on your Honor Flight
Your Last Frontier Honor Flight is much more than a trip to Washington, D.C. It is an opportunity to visit the memorials built in honor of your service, spend time with fellow Veterans, and experience a few unforgettable days dedicated to recognizing you and your sacrifices.
During the mission, veterans will visit many of our nation’s most meaningful military memorials and landmarks, which may include:
- World War II Memorial
- Korean War Veterans Memorial
- Vietnam Veterans Memorial
- Lincoln Memorial
- Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
- U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial
- U.S. Air Force Memorial
- U.S. Navy Memorial
- Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center
- Additional special stops
From your send-off in Alaska to your return home, the entire experience is designed around honoring our veterans and giving you the opportunity to reflect, remember, and share the experience with others who have served.
Please note: Mission itineraries may vary depending on scheduling, availability, weather, and other circumstances.
Traveling with a Guardian
Every LFHF veteran is paired with a Guardian for the mission. Your Guardian may be an eligible family member, friend, or an LFHF volunteer.
A spouse, partner, or significant other cannot serve as your Guardian.
If you would like to request a specific family member or friend, include their name and phone number on your veteran application. We will make every effort to accommodate your request, although placement is not guaranteed.
Guardian candidates must submit a separate application and meet all LFHF Guardian requirements, found here.
